Being a Public Speaker with Subject Matter Expertise: Showcasing You to Get More Clients

How to Get More Speaking Engagements and Reach Potential Clients and Referral Sources

I’m an expert in public speaking and public relations in marketing and branding for lawyers and business professionals with 20 years of hard work and relationship-building with thought leaders in various industries. Every time I get the opportunity to speak somewhere, I get a lead for a potential client. Not everyone in the crowd knows that’s happening, but if you watch the people who approach a speaker at the end of a meeting, you know they want more.

Topics for Today’s Episode of Power 5 on the Texas Law Talk Radio Network:

  • Everyone is Looking for Speakers
  • You Have Stories to Tell, Hopefully Funny Ones
  • What Makes You Likeable to Different People
  • Have a Speaker Bio, Help People Find You
  • Capture and Share the Speaking Experience

If 2025 is your year to be in the driver’s seat, let’s get started. I work with great people who have something to say and I work the process on the back end to get you up on that stage and help capture and share the moment.

It takes organization and working on your speaker engagement plan to make things happen. And it might be a public event attended by many, or it could be a podcast where you are a guest. As you do more speaking engagements and share those somewhere, more opportunities come along. Before you know it, you’re a legitimate frequent speaker.

Learning How to Be a Frequent Speaker People Call on to Engage Audiences

The first step is wanting to speak to a group and be on stage with all those people staring at you, some potentially creating grocery lists, thinking about anything else or worse, scrolling in their phone and totally ignoring you. Sounds like a blast? Makes you want to run away?

Meanwhile, in that audience of people who are there for a meeting and you just happen to be the speaker, there may be a handful of people in that crowd to whom your contribution as a speaker is impactful. You never know who in a room of people has a situation that calls for your expertise.

To become a speaker, you first need to want it, and then make a list of things to do to make it happen. One by one, you are setting yourself up for success in getting great speaker opportunities to help tell the world who you are and what you do.

Being the Law Publicist is Fun and I Love My Work

My agency is the best in Texas and I pride myself on working with the top talent and industry thought leaders who rely on high-quality experienced professionals with something to share.

I enjoy creating custom strategies to get speaking engagements for clients who want to meet more people and expand their exposure. You bet along the way I make sure things are well preserved for our websites and social media to let everyone know.

When we don’t have an event at hand or we have something further off, let’s create something new in the meantime. It’s easier than people realize to become an accredited CLE presenter, for example. I’ve helped produce some exciting panel speaker events, well attended, and well received.
